Richard Baker
Chairman, Hudson’s Bay Trading Company and Governor, Hudson's Bay Company
Richard Baker is Chairman of Hudson's Bay Trading Company (HBTC), and Governor of Hudson's Bay Company. HBTC is a leading North American retailer with key banners spanning Canada and the United States. HBTC's Canadian retail entity, the Hudson's Bay Company, operates The Bay, a major department store, Zellers, a mass merchandise format, Home Outfitters, a kitchen, bed and bath specialty store, and value-priced Fields stores. In the US, HBTC's banners include Lord & Taylor, an upscale specialty retailer with 47 stores in nine states and Creative Design Studios, the design and manufacturing division that creates branded collections for customers throughout North America and internationally.
Mr. Baker comes from a lineage of retail real estate developers and is President and Chief Executive Officer of NRDC Equity Partners and NRDC Real Estate Advisors. He is also Vice Chairman of National Realty & Development Corp., a privately owned real estate development company owned by him and Robert C. Baker. National Realty & Development Corp. owns and manages approximately 22 million square feet of shopping centers, office buildings, business parks and residential communities throughout the United States.
Mr. Baker sits on the board of Hudson's Bay Company, Lord & Taylor, Fortunoff, and Brunswick School and is the Chairman of the Board of Lord & Taylor. Mr. Baker is a graduate of Cornell University and serves on the Dean's Advisory Board of the hotel and real estate program.
