The Hbc Foundation

The Hbc Foundation was formed in 2003 with a mandate to work with our associates, vendors and customers to provide support in the communities in which we work and live. Each year, the Hbc Foundation receives and considers thousands of requests for assistance.

Our Mission

Today, the Hbc Foundation is a leading charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of Canadians through programs that reflect our distinct Canadian values. Each year, we work closely with local and national organizations across the country to invest more than $10 million in the following three areas:

A. Building Healthy Families

Our customers care deeply about the health and well-being of their families, friends and other members of their community. That’s why, as part of our mandate to build healthy families, Hbc has donated more than $2 million to support:

  • Hospitals
  • Health care services
  • Disease prevention research organizations

B. Creating Strong Communities

Every Hbc store is located in a community where our customers and associates work and live. The Hbc Foundation seeks to help make these communities even healthier and more vibrant so that families can feel secure. In 2007, the Hbc Foundation raised over $3 million to support:

  • Disaster and crisis support
  • Support services for abused women and their families
  • Women’s shelters and sexual assault centres

C. Inspiring Canadians

Canada has a rich history and a unique culture that deserves to be preserved and promoted. The Hbc Foundation donated over $6.75 million in 2007 to support:

  • Historical organizations
  • Canadian history museums
  • Canadian athletes and training facilities
