Reference Guidelines
When referring to Hudsons Bay Company:
- Appropriate secondary reference Hbc
- Do not reference as: The Bay, The Hudsons Bay Company or Hudson's Bay
When referring to the Bay:
- The Bay is not an abbreviation of Hudsons Bay Company. The Bay is the department store retail division of Hudsons Bay Company.
- Within a sentence never uppercase the; (i.e. During 2001, the Bay introduced two new budget brands, Outline and Marketsquare.)
When referring to Zellers:
- Zellers is the mass merchandise retail division of Hudsons Bay Company.
- When used in the possessive sense it should include an apostrophe at the end; (i.e. Zellers strategic plan has been in place for three years)
When referring to Home Outfitters:
- Home Outfitters is the kitchen, bed and bath specialty superstore of Hudsons Bay Company
When referring to Designer Depot:
- Designer Depot is the off-price retail banner of Hudsons Bay Company
Associates
It is the policy of Hudson's Bay Company to refer to all employees as associates regardless of level of employment.
