When referring to Hudson’s Bay Company:

  • Appropriate secondary reference Hbc
  • Do not reference as: The Bay, The Hudson’s Bay Company or Hudson's Bay

The Bay

When referring to the Bay:

  • The Bay is not an abbreviation of Hudson’s Bay Company. The Bay is the department store retail division of Hudson’s Bay Company.
  • Within a sentence never uppercase “the”; (i.e. During 2001, the Bay introduced two new budget brands, Outline and Marketsquare.)

Zellers

When referring to Zellers:

  • Zellers is the mass merchandise retail division of Hudson’s Bay Company.
  • When used in the possessive sense it should include an apostrophe at the end; (i.e. Zellers’ strategic plan has been in place for three years)

Home Outfitters

When referring to Home Outfitters:

  • Home Outfitters is the kitchen, bed and bath specialty superstore of Hudson’s Bay Company

Associates

It is the policy of Hudson's Bay Company to refer to all employees as associates regardless of level of employment.
