Hbc Removes All Bisphenol-A (BPA) Baby Products and Announces Additional BPA-Free Products to Arrive in Bay and Zellers Stores

TORONTO, ON - April 16, 2008 - Hudson’s Bay Company (Hbc) has announced that it will act immediately to remove all BPA baby product from its 94 Bay stores and 280 Zellers stores as a result of the pending announcement by Health Canada that bisphenol A (BPA) is a ‘dangerous substance’.

“We take product safety issues very seriously,” said Robert Johnston, President and CEO, Hbc.“We are taking immediate action to remove the product and offer only BPA-free baby products in our stores.”

Maintaining a supply of safe baby products is essential for consumers, and Hbc has taken steps to ensure that necessary baby products are available in its stores.As a result, the Company has secured more than 55,000 units of Glass Baby Bottles for its stores and has acquired additional BPA-free product, including glass and polypropylene baby bottles, bottle liners, nipples, bottle inserts and drinking cups.Hbc currently carries name brand glass bottles from Evenflo, Dr. Brown’s and Chicco in various sizes that range in price from $3.29 to $9.97, as well as BPA-free plastic bottles by “NUBY”.
