What banners and businesses does Hbc operate?
Hbc, established in 1670, is Canada's largest department store retailer and oldest corporation. With more than 500 stores led by the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters. Hbc also operates the Fields banners. Hbc is one of Canada's largest employers with operations in every province in Canada.

What are ‘Power Buys’?
Power Buys are great deals on nationally branded merchandise at 40 to 70 percent below market price. These deals are highly attractive to our target customers and drie customer traffic. Power Buys are available at Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters.
What is Hbc’s Opportunity Buy Strategy? What are the financial targets?
- Introduce Opportunity Buys – known as Power Buys to consumers – in all Hbc banners;
- Introduce off-price shops – known as Style Outlet – in select Bay stores; and
We believe our Opportunity Buy strategy will generate approximately $350 million in sales and revenue.

Why does Hbc insist vendors participate in an ethical sourcing program before they can receive a vendor license number?
Hbc is deeply committed to ensuring our supply chain reflects our values of corporate social responsibility. To that end, we have instituted a vendor compliance program for all private brands and we are working to educate our buyers, vendors and their factories about our Vendor Code of Conduct.
