Hbc Gallery - Victoria. Re-creation of an early Hbc store, ca. 1898

The Hudson's Bay Company Gallery - Victoria explores the role played by Hbc in the development of Canada and of British Columbia in particular. The Gallery has two main exhibit areas:

  1. Trading Post. Visit an historic reproduction of an 1820s trading post. Come and see how products from the past were packaged and sold. A gold miner's shopping list includes; flour, lanterns, blankets, etc. Try your hand with our interactive quiz.
  2. 1920s Dining Room. Travel back in time and experience how a typical family lived. Listen to the radio and eavesdrop on phone conversations. Through computer interaction view a 1927 catalogue and compare prices from yesteryear to today. The 1920s Dining Room exhibit features nine works themed around significant events in the Company's history, commissioned as illustrations for the Company's annual calendar during the 1920s.
