Hudson’s Bay And Chef Ron Blaauw Announce Collaboration In Amsterdam

Partnership Launches the City’s Newest Restaurant: Nacarat

AMSTERDAM, May 9, 2017 –Hudson’s Bay and Ron Blaauw today announced their collaboration to create a unique restaurant concept in the new, highly-anticipated Hudson’s Bay department store in Amsterdam. At this flagship location, under the round-shaped roof on the top floor of Rokin 49, renowned Chef Ron Blaauw will open Nacarat, welcoming guests of the department store for both lunch and dinner as of late summer, 2017.

Hudson’s Bay will open its first ten department stores in the Netherlands beginning this summer. In addition to well-known beautiful and unique brands in fashion, beauty & home, food will also be an important component of this new retail concept. During the day, Chef Ron Blaauw will welcome guests of Hudson’s Bay for lunch and, unique to this location, offer fine dining overlooking the city center of Amsterdam, after the closure of the department store in the evening.

Ron Blaauw commented about the partnership for the new restaurant:

“Within this new restaurant concept, a rich yet accessible experience is paramount, including impeccable service. Dishes will be inspired by Middle East cuisine. Lunch serves lighter dishes like a nice glass of wine and oysters or Lebanese bread with delicious humus. Dinner will be more about fine dining in a Tel Aviv-style. The name “Nacarat” is inspired by the warm orange colour created by the setting sun that is reflected through the glass roof.”

Jacco van der Steen, Director Marketing and Buying at Hudson’s Bay in the Netherlands, said:

“We are very excited to announce this collaboration with Chef Ron Blaauw. Hudson’s Bay wants the Netherlands to get to know our special and new shopping experience, and food is essential to this experience. The top floor of the Hudson’s Bay Amsterdam building with a full view of Amsterdam’s inner city, together with Ron Blaauw’s exceptional menu and service, contributes to the character and experience of our Dutch Hudson’s Bay concept.”
